An open meeting of the Participating Investigators of the Consortium for Functional Glycomics will be held in conjunction with the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Society for Glycobiology (November 12 - 15).
The meeting will cover a broad scope of topics involving the roles of glycans in cell communication, from host-pathogen interactions to functions of mammalian glycan-binding proteins, glycomics, and glycoinformatics.
Poster sessions and open discussion sessions for subgroups and their Subgroup Leaders are also planned. For more information, click here
To facilitate communication and drive collaboration among investigators working on common problems, the Subgroup Leaders compiled a list of justified and prioritized resource needs derived from discussions at the November 12, 2008 PI meeting. Milestones and plans for future subgroup workshops designed to foster the flow of ideas for achieving the program aims are included in the subgroup activities page. This page will also provide a mechanism to track the CFG's responses to subgroup needs as discussions progress.
Participating Investigators are invited to join their subgroups in discussion forums at Nature Network, the online networking site
created by Nature Publishing Group. Choose your subgroup(s) from the list at: http://network.nature.com/group/cfg.
Personnel from CFG Participating Investigator laboratories are welcome to take part in the forums by forming one profile for the entire lab. Individuals are then encouraged to identify themselves when they post.
With more than 250 participants, the response was overwhelming. CFG received extremely valuable feedback and suggestions that will help guide the direction of the CFG over the next three years.

Consortium data is accessible from the databases, with enhanced presentation interfaces for access to raw data and information on experiments, protocols, and samples.
'ASSOCIATED REQUESTS/DATA' LINK ADDED TO PARTICIPATING INVESTIGATORS PAGE
The Participating Investigator page has been enhanced by the addition of an “Associated Requests/Data” link next to each investigator’s name. Clicking this link displays that investigator’s resource requests, plus any gene microarray or glycan array data posted in the database resulting from those requests.
